About BGO Bingo
BGO Bingo went live in 2012, a new site with designs on making a big splash in the online bingo industry. I say “new” site but it’s really a rebranding of the former X Bingo brand. BGO offers a range of bingo variants as well as a slew of non-bingo offerings and the site is networked into the larger BGO gambling universe lorded over by everyone’s favourite pint-sized player, The Boss.
BGO Bingo is a product of Mandalay Gaming Holdings who have an impressive resume in the online gaming industry so you can be reasonably sure of a satisfying hassle-free experience. BGO is powered by Mandalay’s proprietary software and that software has had plenty of time to have the kinks worked out. The company have put a lot of effort into perfecting the user experience and that’s true for most access platforms. Their mobile site is optimized for iOS, Android and Blackberry but perhaps inexplicably not for the multitude of windows-based users out there.
That said navigation is clear and intuitive and the site is logically laid out with no dead ends or head scratching redirects. When you land on their homepage you’ll be greeted with their £5 no deposit bonus as well as several other sign-up promotions. Simply pick your poison and move on to register. The entire process is fast and easy and you’ll be accompanied the whole time by The Boss, Verne Troyer of Hollywood fame. Once registration is complete you’re good to go. Games and BGO Bingo Mobile
BGO Bingo is backended by Virtue Fusion technology. Virtue Fusion is a Playtech company and Playtech is of course the company behind other top online bingo brands like William Hill. Why the company didn’t simply opt for the Playtech brand is a bit of a mystery (perhaps a security-related decision, which makes a certain amount of sense) but the VF software does a fine job regardless. The standard BGO bingo offerings include:
- 90 Ball
- 80 Ball
- 75 Ball
Not content to stop there BGO offer a slew of other equally entertaining games including:
- First Depositors Bingo – free with a £10 jackpot
- Super Free Bingo – jackpot £50
- Free Cash Bingo – jackpot £1
- Extra Bingo – jackpot £100
- Reloaders – jackpot £15
- Fun Free Bingo – jackpot £50.
- Non-Bingo Offerings
Should you tire of bingo and desire a change of pace BGO offers an impressive selection of side games to tempt and entertain. Offerings include fan favourites like $100,000 Pyramid, Super Hoot Loot, DaVinci Diamonds, Cleopatra, Kitty Glitter and Bouncy Balls. Vegas slots tournaments are on tap from time to time and allow you to pit yourself against others for a spot at the top of the overall leader board.
You can’t afford to miss out on their progressive games either which provide the opportunity to score wins of £500 plus. In fact, it’s not uncommon for these games to have jackpots of well over £1000.00.
The Mobile Experience
BGO Bingo has made a concerted effort to reach out to and accommodate mobile players. Like any site worth their salt these days they use HTML5 technology to drive a mobile experience that’s as simple and error free as their PC-based site. With mobile grabbing an ever growing share of casual (non-professional) Internet users it’s likely that the desktop site will slowly but inexorably lose ground to the mobile site so it’s only smart that the company would shift their focus in that direction.
As far as I can tell the BGO Bingo mobile site is wanting for nothing when compared to the desktop site. All the same games are there and interactivity is first rate. On the whole the only issues I experienced were Wi-Fi related, which is of course out of BGO’s control.
Mobile App
As I said mobile is moving in on and supplanting the desktop experience and mobile users of BGO Bingo have 2 options: they can open their browser and navigate directly to the site, in which case they’ll be served the dedicated mobile version of BGO Bingo, or they can download the app and interact using that. The BGO app is currently available through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Personally I prefer the mobile website over the app, where I feel you lose something in regards to functionality and variety, but others see things differently.
Mobile apps provide businesses with greater control over user interactions. Mobile apps are also often used to provide companies with information about the user’s habits and preferences. Much of this data collection and transference goes on without the user’s knowledge and is only of benefit to the company. But if you’re okay with that then by all means consider downloading the app since it will make accessing the site a one tap experience.
BGO Bingo New Customers Bonus and Promo Code
BGO is right up front with their promotion offerings. As I said earlier the minute you access the site you’re presented with their £5 no deposit bonus. To take advantage of this offer enter the bonus code “5FREE(MONTH)” with “month” being swapped out for whatever happens to be the current month. It’s a moveable promo code with no string attached. How great is that? And it doesn’t stop there.
400% new customer bonus – BGO Bingo’s 400% bonus for new customers is one of the best around. It can be used on either the bingo games or slots so you have some flexibility. Be aware that betting minimums will apply. For specifics check the “Promotions” page of their website.
Cash Back Bonus
BGO offers a weekly cash back bonus of up to 20%. With this bonus in play existing customers will have something to smile about even on those weeks when things aren’t always going their way. These cash back bonuses can also be used to increase loyalty rewards. Those loyalty rewards include free games with hourly jackpots. The higher you’re rated on the VIP scale the larger those jackpots become. BGO also presents a kind of honour roll that’s continually updated with the names of the latest winners. A nice touch most will appreciate.
Transacting Business
The major forms of payment are all accepted and to their credit they include a guide in their “help” section that will take you through the fine points of transacting business with them. More sites should have such an offering for novice users. As of this writing the accepted methods of doing business with them are:
- VISA Credit and Debit
- MasterCard Credit and Debit
- MaestroPaysafecard
- Neteller
- PayPal
BGO Bingo do a serviceable job with customer care and I say “serviceable” because at the time of my interaction with the site customer service was not available 24/7 but only on a limited basis and didn’t offer a contact number to boot. When it is available though it’s friendly and effective and they seem genuinely invested in seeing any issue you may be experiencing is resolved to your satisfaction. Customer service is available via contact form, email and live chat. But again, that live chat is only live from 8.30am – midnight GMT, like the rest of their customer service division. Customer Service
What I Like
There’s no doubt that BGO Bingo do a lot of things right starting with their no deposit signup bonus. I also appreciate the number of ways you can transact business with them, the emphasis on quality when it comes to the mobile site, the fact there’s a promotion for just about everyone and the number and quality of their non-bingo offerings.
Things I Don’t Like So Much
The fact that their customer support division is not available for 8 hours every day and doesn’t offer a contact number is a bit of a head-scratcher. If you’re going to offer your services to an international audience you should be available when someone half a world away has a problem. The fact that they’re not casts a bit of a pall over the question of how dedicated they are to their customer base. Which is never a good thing. Still, most people should have trouble free encounters with BGO which means they’ll never really need customer support for anything terribly important so for them it won’t be an issue.
The Verdict
BGO Bingo on balance do a good job of providing online bingo fans with a range of entertaining and potentially profitable diversions. The site is certainly up to contemporary standards of design and functionality so whether you’re a PC lass or a mobile lad you’ll still be able to enjoy the same high-quality experience. I really wanted to give them 5 out of 5 stars in this review and if I were judging solely on the gaming product I wouldn’t hesitate. But because online gaming and customer service really can’t be separated in any meaningful way I’m going to take off 1 star for their limited customer service hours. Also, be sure to check out Betfair Bingo.
